Hanleys Environment Group (HEG)

HEG (formerly Hanley Carbon) is leading the Parish Council's decision taken in 2019 to work towards carbon neutrality within the parish. It is supported by, and accountable to, the Parish Council.

The group encourages good environmental practices to reduce carbon reliance and nurture and increase biodiversity.  Its activities include tree planting, habitat creation, education, providing advice on renewable energy, organising community initiatives.

At least one Parish Councillor is on the group and reports to the Parish Council on a regular basis; at least 3 times per year, including an annual written report at the Annual Meeting in May each year.  In addition updates are posted to the parish website, Facebook, the Parish Link and noticeboards to raise awareness of events and activities.

The group is allocated a budget by the Parish Council which is spent according to parish spending guidelines.

Membership is open to anyone resident in the parish or having business in the parish.

The group works in partnership with other parishes and organisations.
